first represented emotion in archaic art

Kouros (male) and kore (female) are the free-standing Greek sculptures that appear in archaic period and the ancient Egypt art had influence on them. They are representation of youth bodies. The main difference between them is the nudity. Kores were always clothed and it shows the Greek society’s stance on nudity that being naked is not appropriate for women. Their most significant feature is the “archaic smile” which is the first represented emotion in art.

case study collage

According to the case studies of the houses that are

Le Corbusier, Villa Stein / France, 1927
Richard Neutra, Kaufmann House / California, 1946
Charles and Ray Eames, Eames House / LA, California, 1949
MVRDV, Double House / Utrecht, 1997
Diller + Scofidio, Slow House / New York, 1991
Nevzat Sayın, Yahşibey Evleri 1-7 / İzmir, 1996-2006
Rem Koolhaas/OMA, Dutch House / Netherlands, 1995
Aires Mateus, House in Azeitao / Portugal, 2003
ELASTICOSPA +3, Yuppie Ranch House + Barn / Italy, 2004

we were assigned to combine the information on a collage. While working on them we were supposed to consider the random phrases that are “spy the ground” and “splitting the contact”.

As the second step of that study, we were expected to work on a 3D collage in the same concept.

So, my approach on that study is to splitting the different concepts from a common element that works as a centre like in the Kaufmann House. The split parts are more like the subdivision of a volume and they tied together like the idea of Double House which is homes gradually intersected and coming together. Also, those different parts are occured by the 2 same element that are on a axis like in Eames House. The visuals on the central element are for the relation of ground and houses and way of they are coming together.
