There five questions in this research that are asked to students in different departments. Those are;

Did you choose your department by yourself?

Do you love your department?

Do you want to change your department?

Are you going to work in that field?

Every color in the model represents a department and each line is one of those questions. And two columns beneath each other is the answers of the students, that are YES or NO.

PROTECTING THE OLD

While adding a new part to a historic building there are some conditions to be aware of such as, materials, features and form and it has to be differentiated from the existing building in terms of to respect those qualities, size scale and massing should be arranged in the addition part. It has to be easily visually distinguishable from the historic part. So that it is not copying the existing one. Lots of operations can be done in terms of achieving the preservation and there can be lots of effective ways to construct. Some of them can be listed as the, seperation of the old one and the addition part. A simple and small scale element of physical seperation in between the volumes might work. Unifying the two volumes of the old one and the new is not a prefered way to design in terms of protecting the identity of the historic part and being legible. In addition to that materials that are used should be in a harmony. So that glass extention might be a good option to respect the old one with it’s transparency especially if it is a small scale addition like connection part of two masses. Being respectful to the expression of the historic building will be a nice touch to that. And keeping it smaller than the old one and choosing them invisible might be a good choice to preserve the old buildings.

Clay brick constructions are considered as a important component of green buildings. There are so many facts that are the reasons of using clay brick. Such as, it is provides superior thermal performance. It deals with the conditions of summer and winter both efficiently. So it can be considered as being energy efficient. It shows that natural and sustainable clay brick is a effective thermal shield for buildings. Also, it provides a quiet indoor environment so it works as a natural sound barrier. Another quality of clay brick is that, ,it absorbs the mouisture of the air so that it creates indoor air quality.

4D into 2D

Search about the space and time issues regards the 4th dimension in art; in cubist, futurist and surrealist approaches have attempt to convey the 4D into 2D. It has clearly seent the relationship of cubism and space.

They got influenced by the idea of travel in time which was popular those days by the effect of relativity theory. They were interested in the non- Euclidean geometry. It was a representation of the same subjects from different point of views that are not possibly observable in real world. It is a clue for understanding of the space. So that, they concern the way of different kinds of perceptions work together as the interaction of objects in space.

On the other hand, Futurism was interested in the concept of time. Artists were into motion, speed adn beauty of modern life. They were influenced by chrono-photography which was a new technology those days. It was about the representation of motions in the sequence of frames. It is about the movement and speed by blurring and repeting of the object.

In my project it contains a conferans hall that starts from the ground level and goes through the underground level of car parking. Air ventilation will created by the pipes. And it has carried by the steel construction due to not block the vision of the visitors by a column. Inside of the staircases are concreate and they are covered by wood.

Experiments in art and technology in general it is the organization of acting as a connector of industry and technology with arts. It aimed to develop an effective collaborations between artists and engineers.  That organization was influenced by 9 Evenings : Theatre & Engineeering that was the performance of engineers and contemporary artists were worked together. It took the advantage of potential in of it’s diversity. cri_000000357357

They arranged the exhibition called Some More Beginnings in Brooklyn Museum in New York. It was announced as a competition for an engineer to work on art by the help of an artist. ” The machine as seen at the end of the mechanical age.” was selected as the best for that exhibition.

About the interaction between artists and engineers the first experiment was the Pepsi Pavilion in terms of exploring the feedback between aesthetic and technical choices. That pavilion gave visitors to create their own reality by the materials, processes and structures.
